(1:53 AM CST) Old Navy
AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHhhhhhhhhhh!!! IF I SEE ANOTHER OLD NAVY COMMERICIAL, I'M GOING TO CRUSH GEORGE'S TV!!!! (Well, maybe not, but still....). These are the WORST and MOST ANNOYING commercials I've ever seen...NEVER mention Performance Fleece to me. I'll just go into convulsions...

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, be thankful. Be very thankful. There are forces in the world that are aimed at destroying the notion that the human race has a semblence of a sense of aesthetics... (whew!)

(6:29 PM CST) SpeakFreely for ICQ
I saw this program on BetaNews yesterday...it's a voice chat program for ICQ. The really cool thing about it is that it finally allows for multiple connections (e.g. conferencing). Haven't tried it out yet, but go ahead and download it and we can give it a shot. This could be really cool...

(6:26 PM CST) JVM Update for Win98 and IE 4.0
If you're running Windows 98 and IE 4.0, download the new Java Virtual Machine. It's a bit faster (supposedly), and fixes some bugs (supposedly). Anyway, probably won't hurt, hasn't done anything to my machine yet.

(6:13 PM CST) Site flaws
If you're using Netscape Navigator, you'll notice that the page looks a little different - I finally got around to fixing the coding problem that kept you guys from seeing the blue right bar, so it was all crammed together. Anyway fixed that along with a few other little optimizations...Netscape and Microsoft need to make a standard rendering method, dammit!

(6:01 PM CST) Unauthorized Users
I've had a couple of unauthorized users on the FTP server lately, from domains that I don't recognize, so if you find that you no longer have access (and I gave it to you in the first place), send me a message on ICQ and I'll fix the problem. Just as a reminder, please don't spread the site to anyone besides your own self...I just don't need the attention from the resnet people. Thanks!

(4:32 AM CST) Christmas!
For some strange reason, I'm actually feeling the Christmas spirit, so I've added a few things here and there. That picture up there is Rei Ayanami, from Neon Genesis Evangelion - doesn't she look great? You won't find that image anywhere else, though, I hacked it together, because Andrew just had to go and put the only   winter-ish Eva picture on his own site. It actually took a lot of time to piece together...hope you guys enjoy it! :)

Merry Christmas!

P.S. - If you're all good, I'll even see what I can do about getting the picture site up later today...but for now, I need to get some sleep. (Yup, that time you see is right...)

(12:49 AM CST) End of Semester 1. Turn tape to Semester 2.
Yes, classes officially ended on Friday, which means that from now until the 15th, finals are going to be my life. Well, theoretically, at least. Those of you who frequence ICQ will be able to tell exactly how much studying I'm getting down by my DND signs (which, I fear, will not be on as much as they should be). But anyway, there are a few cool things that you guys should check out. First, and foremost, go get some Christmas music! No, you don't have to go buy some (perish the thought!)...just wander on over to the FTP server and delight in the new Christmas Songs directory. I've also got a complete version of Handel's Messiah - definitely worth checking out. Umm....what else...oh! Zorro soundtrack is up, as well as the new Chef Aid soundtrack for South Park (which is damn funny, as long as you're not looking for too much meaning in it...).

I got my DVD drive in on Thursday (Creative Labs PC-DVD Encore DXR2, if you're wondering), and it's simply incredible! I love the picture quality, and I'll get a chance to really check out the audio once I get my computer back in its place among the ProLogic setup at my house...I'm really wishing they had English subtitled Evagelion DVD's right now...

If you're wondering if DVD is a thing to do, my personal opinion is that it is. The price of the drive that I bought was $150 after a $30 rebate that lasts until the end of December, excluding shipping. The nicest thing about this drive is that there are plenty of programs that can modify the MPEG2 decoder card (the DXR2 board) and disable Macrovision (so you can copy a DVD to a VHS tape), and also change the region code without limit (so you can watch DVDs meant for any part of the world...IE buying pirate DVDs from Hong Kong is a possiblity).

Let's see...what else is new...Oh, saw Psycho with Andrew and Oliver, and Jason, a friend of Andrew's from art class. As a movie by itself, it's not very good. This Psycho is probably best appreciated if you've seen the original pretty recently, and can enjoy the slight differences and moderizations of the new version.

In case any of you didn't already know, I do have a CD burner, and do make CDs, so if you want one, let me know sometime. Other news: The 17 gig hard drive that I bought is ALMOST FULL. So, I stuck in a 4 gig that I wasn't using and the server currently has a storage capacity of around 21.3GB. Quantum just released a new Bigfoot drive, 19 gig, that's cheap - around $320. I'm considering starting a fund to buy that drive - this would mean that you guys could put whatever you want on it, if you happen to feel like contributing to the fund (probably around $15-$20). The only restrictions would be porn and linking anything from the FTP server to a website. Otherwise, anything goes. And I can't buy this out of my pocket like I did with the 17 gig, simply because I have very little money left... :(

(12:33 PM CST) AOL <-> Netscape
Grrr....dammit. It's official - AOL bought Netscape, for around $4.2 billion. My sentiments? Best stated by a comment on BetaNews:
The world is coming to an end when a crash happy browser and a horrible ISP join hands. What is next...a browser that gives you busy signals, then crashes?

(1:11 PM CST) 6 days...
I'll be getting into Sugar Land on Wednesday, probably sometime in the afternoon (2-3'ish). Let me know if you'll be coming into town and when, and I'll post it up here somewhere...

(1:01 PM CST) Star Wars: Episode One
Massively delayed, but here's a direct link to the trailer if you haven't seen it already...looks good. Another movie that's going to be worth watching is Star Trek: Insurrection, which is conveniently coming out right around the time that most of us get back for winter break. Should be a fun thing to get back into that old life of ours... :)

Note: If you have the new Windows Media Player (2.0), clicking on the above link will immediately start the player and download the file into oblivion (actually the temp directory). Right click the link and choose Save Target As... and then put the clip wherever your heart desires...
