(9:35 PM CST) Site back up
Damn, I've been slacking. Site is officially a work in progess. I'll surprise ya'll with a massive update, in other words. Stay tuned.

(10:49 PM CST) More News
Damn, you get off the internet for a week and the world gets turned upside down. Basically what happened is that everything that's ever been promised for the last couple months is being released right now. DirectX 6, Intel Pentium 2 price cuts, Sound Blaster Live!, cheap, cheap, cheap, did I mention, CHEAP, Voodoo 2 cards (Flash 3D II 12MB is $170 + shipping), Matrox G200 based video cards, and probably a ton of other things that I'm forgetting. For those of you who might be interested, we called Bass Computers (New Dimensions' supplier), and the prices for the AMD K6 chips has dropped to $107 for the K6-300 and $137 for the K6/2-300 w/3DNow!, etc. Dirt cheap.

(8:28 PM CST) Holy S***! An actual update!!!
Well, I've been insanely busy doing stuff outside of my house, but I can now update the site! Woohoo! Anyway, to make it up to ya'll, I'll let you in on a little gem...DirectX 6. Go ahead, download it from a dedicated OC3 connection (1.6MB). Have fun! :)

Oh, the above link is for people with Win98. Win95 people should go to this site.

(10:36 PM CST) Good game, everyone
That was a cool game - shame on those of you who didn't come today. There seems to be an interesting rivalry growing between Chris and Bryan...oh, and I think I accidently used up all of my BS that I was saving for college - I made this totally BS shot from the middle of the cul-de-sac into the goal directly. It was weird, but now I know I'm going to have to work hard to make up for the lost BS...*sigh*. Louis - hahahahaha!!! Oh, car-less one, how does it feel? :)

In case anyone's interested, Nick now works at the McDonald's that's at Wal-mart, the one on Highway 6 (just go towards Kinko's and keep on going for a mile or so). Be sure to pay him a visit! :)

(9:40 AM CST) Rollerhockey
There WILL be a game today @ 6:00. I'll bring my recycling bin, but we need to get one more recycling bin and we need drinks and cups for those drinks. Everyone should try to bring a sports bottle, though - it really cuts down on the cup usuage. See ya'll there!

(7:32 PM CST) Damn muddy rain...
Okay, I wash my car on Sunday, after having it dirty for a month and a half. It's very clean, inside and out. Today, it rains - but not the distilled rain that won't leave water spots on cars - it's the evil muddy rain that leaves thousands of mud spots all over your car, with no area untouched. AAAARRRGHHHHH!!!! Houston, I hate thee!!! Muddy rain exists, I tell you. There's no other way.

(9:43 AM CST) Fuel Injector/Carb cleaners
Yes, they actually do help, even on new cars! I dumped a bottle of Car & Driver's Super Concentrated Gas Treatment (~$1.47) into my tank, and the rough idle and vibrations that I was used to when I was in park or reverse instantly went away. The bottle recommends using the cleaner once every 2500 miles - I'm adding it to my standard maintenence procedures.

(9:16 AM CST) France v. Brasil
Take a wild guess - who won? :)

(8:56 AM CST) Minor Corrections
Fixed a few small problems on the page, thanks Louis...

(12:42 PM CST) Creative Types Vary in Mental Health Risk
Found this on Discovery's site...I wonder what the implications are for Brian. :)
The freer the art form, the more likely the artist is suffering from mental illness. That's what a new study reports.
Dr. Arnold M. Ludwig at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine used National Institute of Mental Health classifications of mental illness -- alcoholism, drug abuse, mania, and depression -- to show that artists ranking highest in formality were associated with the lowest rates of mental illness. Those who ranked lowest in formality, but highest in emotion, tended to be associated with the highest rates of mental illness.
The findings showed that visual artists with emotive styles had a 75 percent lifetime prevalence of alcoholism, drug use and depression; symbolic artists had a 52 percent lifetime rate, and those with the most formal styles had a 22 percent rate.
The National Institute of Health says that the percentage of incidents of depression in the general population is 6 percent.
He adds that if a certain form of expression is not a natural state of mind for the artist, the artist may tend to use alcohol or drugs to induce the state.

(8:32 PM CST) Matrox G200 chip
I just checked out Ingram Micro, and they have the Millennium and Mystique G200 cards listed for $135 and on backorder, with an expected arrival date of July 14...next Tuesday. That's going to be the release date that Matrox has refused to declare...if you want to get one, you can get it through New Dimensions for around $169 or so - we can get the card in the store by July 15 or 16. Should be interesting...

(9:48 AM CST) 4x DVD drive debuts
Here's a shameless rip from Game PC:
At the recent PC Expo in New York LG Electronics of Englewood Cities, New Jersey, demonstrated its new DRD-840B model DVD drive that supports 4x DVD and 32x CD-ROM read speeds. The drive boasts 5.4 Mbytes/s data-transfer rates with average access of 120ms for DVD disks and 4.8 Mbytes/s with 80 ms average access for CD-ROM disks. The DRD-840B also supports CD-R, DVD-R, and CD-RW formats. Slated to be available in July, the price is expected to be about $200.

(9:35 AM CST) Partial list update
I've gotten a part of the software list online, I'll prune the list for out of date software and add the rest in a few days. You can go to The Lists directly via this handy link. :)

(9:00 PM CST) Societal Inertia
What the hell is it with this group of people? It seems that nothing can done, EVER, as far as being able to organize or plan something fun for all of us. It just never works. *sigh*

Steve, it's your turn.

(11:06 PM CST) Price list update
Updated pricing today on the price list, I'll make out a section for it when I have some time. For now, you can access the site from this link.

(10:16 PM CST) So-so rollerhockey game
The game today was a lot of fun, but we just didn't have enough people! Sunday looks like a great day, though. Lots of people should be there, including anyone reading this page, unless you randomly stumbled across this site and have no idea what I'm talking about. For an interesting change, Steven Sbar actually showed up to a game! And he had rollerblades on!!! ...incredible. See ya on Sunday! (6PM, George's cul-de-sac, call him or me for directions if you need 'em).

(2:02 PM CST) Computer price list up
If you're going to be getting a new computer for college, check out this list of hardware. It's stuff that I recommend you get, and the prices are pretty low - they'll keep on dropping, so if you see a price that's lower than what I list, let me know and I'll update the list. I'll probably go ahead and make it all pretty with it's own section and stuff, that's for later when I finish doing errands.

(1:24 PM CST) Ahh...Sugar Land
Well, I'm actually back now, so if I'm on ICQ, I'm really in Sugar Land again (I was using ICQ from the undergrad library at UT). UT is alright, but I had to spend most of my time trying to plan out which courses to take, since I'm going to be officially: Undeclared major in the College of Natural Sciences, Premed. It's annoying to find that most of the decent professors' classes have already filled up, but that's to be expected, this late in registration. I guess I'll have to catch up on what's been going on for the past few days, but everyone better come to George's cul-de-sac today at 6:00PM and then possibly going out to see a movie around 11, if Steve can manage to stay interested in planning it for a long enough time... :)

(10:00 AM CST) Final Fantasy VII
Eidos finally reported that FF7 just went gold - it's going to be in stores by June 26. Total of 4 CDs, priced at $50. This game is probably going to be the reason why I'll get a Voodoo2 card...
