(1:36 AM CST) Insanity...
This is pretty crazy...the server is precariously close to max storage capacity, AGAIN! The 27gb drive has nothing but MP3s and it's down to 1.13gb free. Silly me for thinking last year that I'd never be able to fill up the 17gb. Anyway, here are a few of the new things I stuck up there after a week long spree:
  • Andrea Bocelli - Aria, Romanza, and Songo
  • Back To The Future & Starcraft (yes, Starcraft :) soundtracks
  • New Order - Substance & Jerry Seinfeld
I also jump started the Indian section with 2.38gb worth of songs. The problem is that I have no idea what's good, and how to classify any of it. If you're into indian songs, let me know what the common categories are and I'll start organizing the songs. For now, I'm just really happy I finished fixing up the names for all of them. =)

If there are some popular indian songs/albums/soundtracks that a decent collection should have, let me know that, too...

Happy Odd Day!

Today is a rather special day if you enjoy the significance of a few changing digits. All of the numbers in todays date are odd. The next time this is going to happen is on January 1, 3111, so as said by someone else, make the most of your last odd day on earth! :)

(2:35 PM CST) Snow Fight
Jeff sent this over to me today...it's a fun little game. And hey, timely, too...there are only 39 days until Christmas. Better start shopping...

(2:45 AM CST) Investment...
I've been pretty busy over the last week looking into the world of investment - it's been informative, to say the least. But while I'm still absorbing the material, I do know a few things...I'm going to be investing for the long term. Daytrading just isn't appealing after observing how to get the best returns out of it - takes way too much time. It might be fun as a full time career, but for now, oh well. Next on the hit list, taxes. Fun, fun...

These sites were pretty useful if you're interested:

The Motley Fool- friendly environment, and logical advice. Value of advice to be tested over the next several years - that's the nice part about starting early. There's time to shrug off mistakes and not be too hurt in the long run...

Yahoo Finance- quite a bit of info, including insider trades, etc. Nothing you can't find anywhere else, but I like Yahoo's implementation.

If you or your parents have had experience with online discount brokerages, let me know...I have a few thoughts on which I'm going to choose, but I'd like to hear input.

(2:35 PM CST) Shang's link...
...is finally up. This is what happened when she didn't send me a graphic for her site.

=P

And double =P.

Update (11/08/99 9:07 PM): Well I finally went ahead and made a quick graphic for her site, but if you didn't catch the old one...

(1:01 PM CST) Looking at the Big Blue Room
Well, well, well....so many things happening out there. If you haven't heard already, Microsoft was (surprise, surprise) ruled against by the Judge.

"Microsoft has demonstrated that it will use its prodigious market power and immense profits to harm any firm that insists on pursuing initiatives that could intensify competition against one of Microsoft's core products," Jackson wrote in his findings. "The ultimate result is that some innovations that would truly benefit consumers never occur for the sole reason that they do not coincide with Microsoft's self-interest."

Should be interesting to see what's going to happen now.

The UN has a very cool site up that demostrates the best use of advertiser support. Take a look at the The Hunger Site and see how you can click someone, somewhere a meal.

Last night Surojit and I opened up E*Trade Game accounts - the game works by giving you $100k and letting you invest anyway you want. The top two players (whoever returns the most on the investments) are given $1000 at the end of the playing month. It's running right now until the end of Dec., so if you want to get in on this playing cycle you can register now. It'd be interesting to see how well we can do in the market given our general knowledge of the industry. Or, we could always turn to the Daytrading Yucca Plant. This guy's patched to the computer next to it, making trades based on electrical activity. Profit = water and light, loss = no water and darkness. So what's the big deal? It made an 18% profit in the last three months...

If you have a PDA and want to find the local barrelhouse, take a look at Heineken's BarTrek. =D

And as I type, WinZip finishes packing up my font collection, currently at 2,528 fonts. It's on the server if you're interested, along with a good program to print out a catalog (trust me, you'll need it). The catalog was 27 pages double sided, printed at 16 point.

And definitely check out the Matrix parody - it's hilarious.

Speaking of hilarious...talk about great ad campaigns...
