(2:18 PM CST) Foam...
Whoa.

Foam. Lots of it. Breathing it. Ingesting it.

We went to foam night last night at Paradox - I was having fun before the foam started, but once it did start...wow. =)

The way it works is barriers are put around part of the dance floor, and one end has a big foam machine. The stuff spews out in engulfing waves of suds, and sometimes it feels like you're going to drown - but by then the foam clears a little and you can clear a path to air with your hands. Of course, you could always go to the other side of the floor where most of the foam's died down, but that's no fun...
Dancing in the foam was just incredible...since everything and everyone is covered in the stuff, it's all one big slippery mess. And being slippery means that you can do all sorts of fluid motions that would be pretty damn hard otherwise - it's also a lot more fun to dance with other people. =D

If a club around you is having a foam night, check it out, just for the experience. I enjoyed it, at least...oh, and Andrew thinks it smelled like Muppets bubble bath. Judging by how I smell today I think he's right...very strange...

(2:47 PM CST) FTP server
I've been pretty busy over the past couple of days reworking the server...but the only people who are really going to notice any change are those of you who access the server directly (you live at the woo). I'm refocusing the server on MP3s, so the MP3s now reside on a 27g platter and the videos have been trimmed down to the 17gb. Software is as it always has been.

A couple areas of the server are growing pretty quickly...I just finished linking the new Indian mp3 section, and the techno & korean sections are starting to fill out. So, if you're one of those blessed souls who uploads, you have a wider variety of things to send my way... =)

(5:28 PM CST) Brown shoes...
Hey, I finally found some - these things were actually hard to find. Regular, brown shoes. Most of the ones I found were a pretty bad color (dark, like old wood), or had all sorts of useless frills on them. What's the point of those two little frilly things that I keep seeing on these shoes?

Anyway...San Marcos is bigger than I remembered it from the camping trip - probably because last time we spent most of our time at Sony waiting on the girls (of course). There's quite a bit, but not much of it is really a good deal. A lot of the prices are just barely below retail store prices, for generic brands. So it goes...

Btw, if you're at UT, APS (the premed group I'm in) is hosting broomball tonight. It's free, because we've already paid for the arena for an hour, so everyone's free to come. Get in touch with me if you'd like to join us, or just be at Chapparal Ice at 9:45 (north 35).

(7:17 PM CST) ACDSee 2.42 released
Released today...it's a good image viewer, in case you don't already use it.

Download - ACDSee 2.42 Setup (1.82 MB)
Download - ACDSee 2.42 Key Generator (13 KB)

(6:47 PM CST) NT Service Pack 6
It's out and about...

Download Windows NT Service Pack 6 - 34.0 MB

(2:40 PM CST) $15 off deals
Hey, this is sweet. Pets.com is offering a $15 off coupon for Amazon customers, but you can access the coupon without Amazon ties. This is great for me, and for some of the people I've converted over to the marine fish world. If you order something that's less than $15, you only pay $4.95 for shipping.

There's also a good deal from FamilyWonder.com - $15 off anything there, just paying for shipping. I picked up Princess Bride (VHS, though) for whatever shipping was. They do have a few DVDs, but not many titles. Overall, cool.

Oh, and don't forget to check out Buy.com's own promotion - $10 off $10 spent on anything they sell, paying for shipping. Life is good for the (South) Asian in us...

(1:54 PM CST) PC-HDTV, solar cells...
Hey, cool...if you have a quick enough machine, companies are going to be making PC-HDTV cards to watch those broadcasts on monitors. Of course...if this looks anything like what DVD on a monitor is like, screw it. DVD, at least, just looks infinitely better on a TV screen...especially a Sony 27" Trinitron screen.... =)

And this should be good news for solar car teams - Spectrolab just doubled the efficiency on their solar cells. So, we can now convert 32% of the sun's energy to electricity...who knows, maybe solar cars will finally get to speeds to match gas burners.

(2:03 AM CST) And so it begins...
Well, it's going to take a while to settle into my new home, but this place has achieved that grand vision of Good Enough (TM). Please direct all complaints to /dev/null and life will be good once again. =)

It is nice to be back again, though...and I think updates will come as often as they did last year, and hopefully more regularly, because this new site is a little easier to maintain. (Warning: geek talk follows) HTML is cool. Netscape, however...well, it sucks. Sucks sucks sucks sucks sucks. It has no idea how to handle nested tables, which is just wonderful because this site is primarily composed of nested table structures. Blah. The workarounds are silly. Blah. If you're interested, you can check out the parse tree for this page. It's fun to look at once you get down to the links section...

And on to the notables...Nasser's been going nuts on the requests lists, so if you there's something you want, here's a chance to have your say. The server's running low on space, even with the new hard drive (which brought up total capacity to 50.9GB =). So, a lot of the "extraneous" material will probably disappear sometime. A lot of the more specialized collections are on the other group FTPs, like ASF movies (or FinK.L. music videos - *cough* ;).

The bulletin board's been getting more active lately, so check it out if you haven't already.

Funny things. Windows 2000 is going to be released on February 17, 2000. We should have it by November 17th. =)

The next projects are going to be updating Picturefest, and possibly adding a couple new sections to the site besides just the main page and Picturefest. And if you're wondering if I'm going to change Picturefest to reflect the new design...seek help.

If you have any ideas on what a guy can do for food, post some ideas on the bulletin board. So far I've got most pastas down with added seasonings and vegetables, time to move on to more interesting things. Fajita chicken strips are next on the test list...

(2:06 PM CST) First post of the new site
Well, it's really just a test, so let's see how it goes...
