This made no sense whatsoever. The vast majority of the towns we drove through were the stereotypical run down, rural areas of the US. We were expecting more of the same when we stopped by the visitor's center in San Angelo for advice on someplace interesting to eat.

Instead, we found a perfectly modern building with broadband internet terminals and an extensive array of water features cascading down a hill to a river below. This, out in the middle of nowhere...
